THE promo image of all time.

Time, in a bottle.

Team Fortress 2 is a masterpiece. Period. It launched in October of 2007 and has only seen growth since said launch. I’ll cut right to it: Team Fortress 2 has set the standard for co-operative online multi-player first-person shooter games. It combines incredible sound design, unique and distinct character abilities, a timeless soundtrack and a fascinating story in the form of a comic. Team Fortress 2 managed to cover every base when it comes to the player experience, and has a place in it’s servers for any player of any background to enjoy. I, myself, have dumped nearly ~3,000 hours into the game and loved every second of it. If you feel like you have nothing to play, or even wish to just experience one of the best shooter games ever made, do yourself a favor and download it here.

Every Rose Carries A Thorn

Sadly, there is one glaring issue that plagues Team Fortress 2 to this very day. Due to a source code leak as recently as a year and a half ago, cheaters have used said code to analyze weaknesses within the game and exploit them to their benefit. Valve and the TFTeam have been steadily pushing updates to try and combat this issue, but because of the amount of labor being pushed towards Valves bigger and newer projects, the game has not seen much help.
If you wish to experience the game for yourself, proceed with caution, or look to join a community server using the built-in server browser.

Verdict

Easily, the game sets itself apart from all other games in its genre, and deserves a 10/10 for that reason alone. However, due to what players are labeling “The Bot Crisis”, the game in it’s current state can feel nearly unplayable due to the amount of cheating bots. Overall, until this issue is rectified, I would still go as far as to say that the game is at least an 8/10. You’ll thoroughly enjoy yourself when you get the hang of the game, and you’ll be set if you know how to find the right servers.
